Water Heater & HVAC Age Finder

About HVACDecode

HVACDecode is a free, independent tool that helps homeowners find out how old their water heater, furnace, air conditioner or heat pump is, using the serial number printed on the rating label.

How the decoder works

Each manufacturer encodes the production date in its serial numbers in its own way: month and year, week and year, or letter codes that repeat every 10 or 20 years. We match your serial against the published formats for each brand and only show a result when one of them fits. If nothing fits, we say so instead of guessing.

Limits

Manufacturers change formats without notice, and some codes repeat over time. The result is the factory date, not the installation date. When the label shows a printed manufacture date, trust that date. For safety and replacement decisions, talk to a licensed plumber or HVAC technician.

We are not affiliated with any of the manufacturers listed on this site. Brand names belong to their owners.
